The Pineapple.
This sunny summer fruit has taken the world by storm this season. Not only fashion, but art has been affected by this delicious yellow trend, so why not jump on the bandwagon? Today I'm going to show you how to embroider this beauty:
The stem stitch outlined pineapple. This one would look great on a tea towel, in fact that's what I made this one for. You can buy it here!
Now, first thing's first, go ahead and print the template here. It's free!
Then gather your materials.
- A needle suitable for embroidery
- 6-ply embroidery floss in
- Yellow (I used DMC 726)
- Golden-yellow (DMC 972)
- Green (DMC 580)
- Fabric to embroider on
- An embroidery hoop (optional)
Let's get started!
Transfer the design onto your fabric however you choose. I used a heat transfer pencil on parchment paper to get the lines onto the tea towel.
Use 3 strands of thread for entire project.
Using stem stitch and your green thread, start with the topmost leaf.
Then continue down, taking one leaf at a time in the order indicated in the following pictures.
Now, taking 2 strands of the golden-yellow thread and 1 strand of yellow thread, stitch all of the lines going in one direction...
... and then the other direction.
Lastly, using 3 strands of yellow thread, stitch around the outline of the pineapple.
I apologize for the somewhat inconsistent lighting. I was working and taking pictures as I went over the course of a couple of full days.
... And voila! Enjoy.
